I am a huge stickler for traditions. A silly as they may seem at times, I swear by them and adore them far more than the average person.
Often times, my friends and family look at me like I am crazy and - from time to time - have even gotten annoyed with my tradition-centered ways. But they are almost always good sports and play along with whatever I may be asking.
This photo was taken in 2007 on Mother's Day, outside after our traditional Mother's Day Brunch with all the females of our family. My Gramma, Mom, three Aunts, and myself are laughing a lot ... about what? Who knows!
Yesterday was Mother's Day. And for the first time in probably 15 years, we didn't go to Mother's Day Brunch. Of the 9 of that usually go, only 4 of us were going to be available - so it was cancelled ... well "postponed". It made me so sad not to have bunch with all those fabulous ladies yesterday, not to spend hours eatting and laughing and chatting about everything under the sun, not to run into my Gramma's cousin and swap family updates. It was so weird.
Of course we say we'll schedule for a Sunday soon, but with everything else everyone has going on, it may not be as soon as we'd all like. Fingers crosssed it happens before next year : )
